About
Posted on 07/02/2009 01:57 am by adminHi and welcome to my blog.
I qualified with a BSc(hons) in speech therapy in 1985 from the Central School of Speech and Drama in London. I worked for 4 years in Bexley, Kent under the leadership of Liz Clarke. I then married and moved to East Anglia and worked in West Suffolk for 8 years based at the Child Development Centre in Bury St Edmunds. I have worked independently as a speech and language therapist since 1997, building my clinic Wordswell in 1999.
I’m a Master Practitioner of Neuro-Linguistic Programming, an honorary consultant in speech and language therapy for the Twins and Multiple Birth Association (TAMBA) and an accreditation team member of the National Autistic Society. I have postgraduate training in working with clients with Asperger Syndrome and in speech therapy with Deaf People including those who have had cochlear implants. I have a special interest in dyslexia and worked for 10 years in a specialist dyslexia school.
I currently undertake approximately 40 independent speech and language therapy medico-legal assessments and reports each year for SENDIST or other court proceedings in addition to providing regular weekly therapy for 20 clients either at my clinic or in schools within a 50 mile radius of Ely in Cambridgeshire.
My motivation is to help enable clients (children and adults) to get the therapy they need when and where they need it because I know that that will make a positive difference to their lives forever.
