Janet is experienced in running social communication skills or social thinking groups for pupils, teachers and parents. The groups cater for shy, withdrawn children, noisy, domineering children, rough, aggressive and immature children, as well as those with specific needs as a result of Autism or Asperger syndrome.
Each session is divided into 2 sections. In the first the focus is on directly teaching social skills and in the second the children get a chance to practice these. In the group social skills are taught in practical ways using methods that will interest and motivate children. Janet incorporate this cognitive behavioural approach with Social Thinking, Superflex and Social Detective material by Michelle Garcia Winner.
